Original images mainly come from two collections in the University Archives: The Fighting Stallions Collection and the Sherwood Bishop Aquarena Collection. The digital image of the History of Ranching mural was provided by the Wittliff Collections. Other images belong to the University Archives or are in the public domain and were copied from the internet. Specifically, the images of Winn's work at Fair Park are from the Library of Congress and the image of Winn is courtesy of the Hays County Historical Commission.
Information was gathered from a variety of sources including the University Archives vertical files containing newspaper clippings from the University Star and San Marcos Daily Record, James Buchanan Winn papers, 1927-1979 at the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, and The Handbook of Texas Online.
