Jarrell

Located on both sides of Interstate 35 north of Georgetown, the small town of Jarrell (1909) was devastated by two tornadoes in recent years. The community rebuilt both times and is now experiencing a boom era of commercial development along the interstate corridor. Corn Hill (also photographed for this series) was the historical precursor. Despite storm damage, Jarrell retains a good deal of historic fabric, although much of the downtown commercial area is vacant. Photographs include churches, the school campus (historic and modern), various businesses, store ruins, and an antique store along the interstate.
