The Huntingtons
Every story has a beginning, and this one begins with the Huntingtons.
Anna Hyatt was a noted sculptor who was especially well known for her depiction of animals. Archer Huntington was a philanthropist, author, and art collector. Anna was 47 and Archer was 53 when they married in 1923 — on March 10th, which was also their mutual birthday.
Archer was as dedicated to supporting cultural institutions as Anna was to her career as a sculptor, and for 33 years they worked together on their shared interests. The gift of the Stallions was a combination of their passions, and a masterful work of Anna's became the focal point on the campus of a growing college in San Marcos, Texas.
