Snapshots
Photograph albums and scrapbooks were as common a century ago as they are today. These albums document family, friends, home life, travels, and important events. Two of the Brown albums presented here, along with a few loose pages and individual prints, document life in San Marcos and surrounding areas.
While genealogical reseearch is possible when names of subjects are identified, these images could also be used to research the history of local landmarks such as the San Marcos River, the Blanco River, the fish hatchery, and Jacob's Well. The images also include well-known buildings such as the Hays County Courthouse and Old Main, as well as family homes, barns, and sheds.
Two albums, as well as some individual prints, are included in this section of informal photographs.
