Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic

The Texas State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic (SLHC) is a state-of-the-art facility that provides speech and language therapy, comprehensive hearing care, and rehabilitation programs for clients of any age.

Services in the SLHC are provided by graduate students seeking a Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders who are supervised by licensed speech-language pathologists and audiologists.

Clients, most of whom live in the greater Central Texas region, are referred largely by word-of-mouth.

We believe that a client's progress is significantly enhanced when communication strategies are incorporated into a meaningful, natural environment.

— Quote from the Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic website

When the SLHC opened in 1948, it served approximately 40 clients each semester.  In the 70 years since its founding, the clinic has expanded its clientele seven-fold; in the fall of 2016 the clinic provided hearing services to 239 clients and speech language services to 53 clients.
