On behalf of the University Archvies, we thank all of the people who made this digital exhibition possible.  We are delighted to share these images with the local community.

Original images were borrowed from three sources: the Brown family, a local resident, and a local businessman.  Individuals who have an interest in prserving local history helped bring these resources together.  The Alkek Library's Digital and Web Services Unit created digital copies of these resources for the purpose of sharing these images with the public.

The University Archives thanks the following individuals:

  • The Brown Album no.1 and loose prints were loaned by Mr. Randy Brown on behalf of his family.  Mr. Brown graciously allowed the University Archives to borrow the items so the Alkek Library's Digital Lab could digitize them for this exhibit.
  • The Brown Studio images were loaned by Mr. Aiken, who graciously allowed Kevin Huffaker to borrow the original glass plate negatives.  After consulting with a conservator, Mr. Huffaker cleaned the plates and collaborated with Alkek Library's Digital Lab and the University Archives to digtize the images.
  • Ms. Alison Tudor, a local researcher and historian, spent many hours identifying people in a small album she acquired from eBay.  As fate would have it, she had found an album that belonged to one of the Brown daughters and confirmed that the album included photos of students staying at the Brown Boarding House.  We are grateful for Ms. Tudor's research and knowledge, as she has added value to the images by confirming the people and places that were captured on film.

This exhibit was constructed using Omeka S by Texas State University Libraries Digital Publishing Lab Student Employee, Odalis Ipina Hernandez, 2023.
