Georgia Hoodye Cheatham

Miss Hoodye, a graduate of San Marcos High School, entered as a freshman.

Cheatham says her mother, who finished eighth grade, pushed her to succeed saying “you must get an education.”

She returned to campus to be honored as part of Texas State's 50th anniversary of integration.  Her advice for students today:

Hang in there. Trust yourself, don’t let anything stop you.
